Course Objectives
*Students will develop the ability to see children's literature as a unique form of art with the power to transport children and adults to worlds where imagination blooms and where discovery stirs the soul. *Students will develop broad and specific understandings of patterns and themes in children's literature. *Students will demonstrate an ability to critically evaluate and analyze children's literature in class discussion and in written texts. *Students will develop rationales for selecting literary texts for K-5 classrooms and for determining means for presenting those texts to students. |
Three Exams (15% each) Exams may or may not be open-book and open-note.

Student Responsibilities
Participation (10%). Attentive, thoughtful participation in class discussions of course texts is crucial to understanding, remembering, and analyzing these texts. Do not use laptops or phones unless you have permission to do so. If you use these electronics without permission, points will be deducted from this participation grade. Come to class on time. If you are repeatedly (more than 3 times) late, points will be deducted from this participation grade. |
